Hotel Hutong

Our place has literally become the boarding house for almost everyone that passes through Beijing. First it was Ian, then Jason and his friend, then Ambrose, then Lakota, now we have Matt moved in and his friend Mariel staying with us. As a result, we've become the talk of the town (hutong street really) with our exploits and infamy entertaining the whole block. Who needs Olympic television when you have us?

Last night, after returning early to wake up for my tutoring part time job, I found that the key I put into my padlocked room, had broken off when twisted. Someone in the hutong had mistaken their padlock for mine. Luckily, my window was slightly ajar, and I managed to climb through to the otherside. Fortunately for me I have two doors (one to the outside courtyard and one to the bathroom. While the Padlock still remains, I have the pleasure of walking by a toilet every time I enter and exit my room...

Tonight, two more friends are coming through, which all but assures a long night. I do not have any teaching jobs tomorrow (thankfully), but really enjoyed the one on one tutoring that I've been doing the last few days. I've been thinking though, a more lucrative business venture would be turning this Hutong into an actual bed and breakfast. Anyway, I'm off to entertain more guests. If the internet comes back to our cozy abode, I'll post more photos.
