The Wangfujing street market is snack central for anything weird and seemingly inedible. After biking from our hutong, down to the Forbidden city and Tiananmen, we decided to get reward ourselves with something strange on a stick. We tried starfish, sea snake and candied fruits. While the sea snake tasted just like chewy scallops, the deep fried starfish was interesting. Imagine a crab cake, coated in crunchy scales. It wasn't delicious, but it was at least palatable. Next up is barbecued scorpions and deep fried tarantula.
